The field guide

Best emojis for tradespeople’s Instagram posts.

Use the graphic to add personality. Let your actual work do the talking.

Start with the job, not the sticker

Choose a real, well-lit photo of your work. Straighten it and crop out customer addresses, number plates, paperwork and anything you do not have permission to show. A sticker is an accent, not a replacement for the photo.

Choose one relevant tool

For a plumber, try the tap or spanner. For a carpenter, the tape measure or hammer. For a decorator, use the roller. One clear symbol is usually easier to read than a border made of unrelated tools.

Put PNGs into the design

Download a transparent PNG and place it in your usual design app as a separate image layer, then export your post. In supported Instagram Story versions, the photo sticker tool may also let you add the saved image. Test it first; interface labels change.

Keep captions useful

Explain what the job involved, where you work in general terms and what is visible in the photo. Do not invent customer praise or claim a result the photo cannot prove. These graphics cannot be pasted as custom emoji into Instagram bio text.

Make the post accessible

Keep the sticker away from important detail and use readable contrast for any added text. Add an image description that explains the actual work, not just “new job”. Keep essential information in the caption as well as the image.

App features vary by device and version. If an option is missing, use the original PNG as an image instead. Never install a keyboard or grant unnecessary permissions just to use a sticker.
